There isn’t much new news to report on the brewery today. The winter weather has kept us in doors and safe.

Here is a link for you to check out if you’re needing something to help your idle mind:  http://www.archaeology.org/online/features/hierakonpolis/zombies.html

You’ve heard things already. Tall tales, urban myths, late nights at friends houses when conversations turn weird. The Apocalypse is already happening and cases have been discovered all over the world. An acquaintance might have asked you if you’ve heard of something called the Solanum virus or if you saw that special on the Discovery Channel about Hierakonpolis. Let me ask, are you ready?

This is how it started for me and my company. Fun jokes and amusing yarns meant to occupy the time. Then it got serious. What was our plan of action? How would we lead ourselves during the end of times? It was clear to us after countless emails, campfires and late night restaurant dinners. We needed to begin building our society for tomorrow; a utopia of sorts in a dystopian world; a compound for the willing in North Central Illinois. Something that would protect our friends and family and sustain some resemblance to life as we once knew it.

The goal in preparing this place, now christened “Apocalypse Farms,” would be for us to develop a site that was 100% self sustaining. It was important for us to take steps that would effectively remove us from the grid. It was also clear that in the Apocalypse the need for beer and/or alcohol would be obvious. We began researching what resources were available in our given climate and began early production of our own beer.

It is not cheap to try and remove ourselves from a society that seems more and more blind by the inevitable every day. We realized early in our planning that this united goal is going to take additional revenue in order to be achieved. That is why we’ve decided to pursue our own brewery. The idea is for this brewery to be the catalyst that can help us achieve a full environmentally responsible, organic and self-sustaining operation.  Therefore when the bell does toll, we’ll be ready. Will You?

Welcome to our blog’s first entry. What our intent is for this space on the web is to share the ongoing workings and improvements of Apocalypse Farm and Brewery. We also plan to discuss ideas, concepts and theories. Stick around. Contact us. We’d love to hear from you.
